SONO-ES Concrete Moisture Sensor: Precision Moisture Measurement for Hardened Concrete
Introducing SONO-ES Concrete, the innovative T3/22 probe with TECANAT Installation tube and SONO-ES transducer. Traditional methods of measuring moisture in hardened concrete have long been plagued by variables such as temperature and volatile salinity. Moreover, many sensors, like humidity sensors, lack the long-term stability required for accurate readings. Enter TRIME-TDR, a groundbreaking technology that offers non-destructive, precise, and enduring moisture measurement.
Applications and Advantages
- Continuous Moisture Measurement: SONO-ES Concrete excels at providing continuous moisture measurements for concrete, rock, stone, and masonry.
- Versatile Installation: The 22mm probe diameter allows for easy installation, both vertically and horizontally, at depths of up to 2.5 meters.
- Retrofitting: Even in hard-to-access areas of existing buildings, the retrofitting installation of the probe is feasible.
- Administrative Freedom: No administrative requirements govern the purchase, storage, transport, or use of TRIME-TDR measurement technology.
- Temperature and Conductivity Independence: Measurements are largely independent of temperature and electrical conductivity, ensuring accurate readings.
- Long-Term Stability: Enjoy guaranteed long-term use without the need for recalibration of sensors.
Installation Type 1
In this method, a relatively flat borehole is drilled using a 22mm special drill, reaching depths of up to 2 meters. The borehole sensor T3/22 is then meticulously sealed with casting compound to ensure watertight integrity, preventing water intrusion.
This approach guarantees the long-term operation of the probe, with test measurements performed before encapsulation to ensure no dirt resides between the spring-loaded measuring plates and the borehole wall.
Benefits of Installation Type 1
- Easy 22mm drilling process
- Installation depths of up to 2 meters
- Complete watertight encapsulation of the T3/22 probe
Disadvantages of Installation Type 1
- Retrofitting removal of the probe is not possible
- The measuring plates of the T3/22 probe must be coated with plastic material.
Installation Type 2
In this alternative method, a rather flat borehole is drilled using a 22.5mm special drill, again reaching depths of up to 2 meters. A TECANAT plastic tube is inserted into the borehole, allowing for the variable insertion of the borehole probe T3/22. The plastic tube inside the borehole is then encapsulated with casting compound to ensure integrity.
Benefits of Installation Type 2
- Cost-saving use of several tubes
- Variable insertion of the probe into the tubes
- Installation depths of up to 2 meters
Disadvantages of Installation Type 2
- The probe must be protected against water intrusion into the tube
- Precise drilling technique required to eliminate air gaps (0.2mm) when implementing the plastic tube into the borehole
- Encapsulation of the plastic tube is necessary
- Measuring plates of the T3/22 probe lack plastic coating for this installation type.
